UK Trade & Investment is offering advanced manufacturing companies in the South East an intensive course of advice and support, to prepare them for export opportunities in China and beyond and to help make their businesses leaner and greener.
Devised in collaboration with the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) South East, the Challenge China - Advanced Manufacturing Programme is a two-part initiative. The two elements (Global Fitness and Access China) aim to increase manufacturers' global competitiveness, while giving them the tools to enter the lucrative Chinese market with confidence.
The programme is aimed not only at advanced engineering and aerospace companies, but at any manufacturing business, from electronics to
plastics, capable of embracing lean and green production disciplines.
For a detailed introduction to the Challenge China Programme and how it can benefit their businesses, UKTI and MAS are inviting companies to attend one of four interactive workshops in venues around the region
on:
* 2 March 2010 - Solent Hotel, Whiteley, 10am - 12:30;
* 3 March 2010 - Holiday Inn, Oxford, 10am - 12:30;
* 10 March 2010 - Holiday Inn, Guildford, 10am - 12:30; and
* 11 March 2010 - Holiday Inn, Wrotham, 10am - 12:30.
Mark Knowlton, of MAS South East, will describe how the Global Fitness stage can enhance global competitiveness, hone manufacturing and
management capabilities and optimise supply chain and environmental performance. The MAS Lean and Green initiative to help companies meet efficiency and environmental targets provides a focus for this element, and includes subsidised on-site support from an environmental specialist.
As part of the programme, MAS South East is also offering a free visit to company premises to formulate an action plan, and a chance to
commission up to five days of 50%-funded tailored consultancy.
Chris Lowsley, China Business Adviser for UKTI South East, will give advice on how to engage with Chinese buyers, suppliers and partners
through the Access China element of the programme. He will also give details of an opportunity for participants to meet selected Chinese decision makers and partners during a sector-focused visit to China in June this year.
For those who graduate to the full programme, the offer is flexible, allowing companies to take advantage of just one or both elements,
depending on their needs.
The introductory workshop events are free of charge and early booking is advised.
