Newbury: BCMS advises gift supplier sale

01 Feb 2010

Wesco acquired by gift watchmaker Zeon.

Newbury- based corporate finance boutique BCMS Corporate has wrapped up the sale of gift supplier Wesco to Zeon in a multi-million pound deal.

Founded in Knutsford, Cheshire in 1987 by Robert Hughes, Wesco supplies licensed products on behalf of over 20 brands, including the likes of Doctor Who, Simpsons, Star Wars and Transformers, for sale around the world.

Under the terms of the agreement, Zeon, who make gift watches for the likes of Bench, Braun and Fiorucco, plan to utilise Wesco’s licensing agreements to move into markets that were previously unavailable to them.

Ilan Elfassy, deal leader at BCMS Corporate, said: “We’re delighted with the sale. Both businesses share real synergies and I am confident that once integrated they will be a real force within the global gift market.”

Robert Hughes, managing director of Wesco, added: "Having been a long-time admirer of Zeon, I am thrilled to have completed the sale. We have enjoyed an excellent relationship for more than 20 years working in the same marketplace, and the prospects of what we can achieve as a combined entity are truly mouth-watering.”

Additional support was provided by Debbie King at Blackburn-based solicitors Farleys.
