Newbury: Business Thinking breakfast planned
November 15, 7.30am-9.30am
Hilton Newbury, Pinchington Lane, Newbury
HSBC, James Cowper and UKTI have teamed up to provide a stimulating and informative agenda to help established businesses look at practical ways of how they can both respond to, and take advantage of the current economic climate, including the opportunities that exist in developing economies.
Presentations include:
HSBC senior economist – Mark Berrisford-Smith – will focus on why the coming year was always going to be tough for debt-strapped advanced economies, including the UK, and why the failure to tackle the Eurozone’s debt crisis has made matters much worse, with most of the major western economies now teetering on the brink of a double-dip recession. He believes there are still plentiful opportunities for businesses in the emerging economies, and even here in the UK with the easing of inflationary pressures creating a silver lining among the clouds for 2012.
James Cowper LLP – Sharon Bedford and Sarah Robert – will look at the common issues UK businesses need to consider when trading or operating overseas, including structure, tax minimisation, status and transfer pricing. In addition, they will cover the corporate considerations of sending employees overseas – to include withholding tax requirements, social security issues and assignment costs and benefits.
UKTI South East International trade adviser Tony Warwick – will discuss some of the advantages and potential pitfalls of exporting and the help and assistance available to companies who are looking to export their way out of the recession.
