UK: AIM awards winners announced

14/10/2011

AIM remains one of the most important global capital markets, helping fast-growing entrepreneurially managed businesses raise the capital they need for expansion. The AIM Awards 2011 celebrated the very best of AIM. UK and international companies, entrepreneurs and market commentators were all recognised at the event.

This year’s AIM Awards Dinner was held on  October 13 in the heart of London’s financial district at a sell-out event with over 1,300 attendees. The awards, sponsored by PwC, and produced jointly with Ford Sinclair, continue to be one of the highlights in the City calendar.

As evidence of the important contribution AIM makes to the capital markets, the European IPO figures for the third quarter of 2011 provide a telling snapshot. AIM made a significant contribution in propping up a flat quarter for IPO markets across Europe.

Out of the €1,169m raised in London during the quarter, the main market generated €810m from six IPOs. AIM hosted a healthy 22 IPOs with a value of €205m.

David Snell, AIM leader and partner, PwC said: “Clearly we are operating in tough times. Despite this, AIM continues to play a critical role in the SME community. The AIM Awards 2011 celebrate not only the achievements of the very best of AIM, but also shines a light on the entrepreneurial spirit that is needed to drive a robust recovery of the UK economy.”

The Winners are:

Best Performing Share Award – Condor Resources
Best Research Award - Edison Investment Research
Best Communications Award – NWF Group plc
Best Technology Award – DDD Group plc
Best Use of AIM Award - Daisy Group plc
AIM Transaction of the Year – Petra Diamonds
Best Newcomer – Smart Metering Systems plc
International Company of the Year – Skywest Airlines
Entrepreneur of the Year – Nick Robertson, ASOS plc
Company of the Year – May Gurney Integrated Services plc

In addition to the leading lights of AIM-quoted companies the event was also attended by NOMADS, brokers, accountants, lawyers, financial PR and investor relations professionals, the media and analysts.
