Portsmouth: Premiership club goes into administration

Peter Storrie to stand down as club docked nine points.

 

Portsmouth Football Club has gone into administration.

Ths club,which has debts of £60 million, became the first Premiership club to enter administration. It decided to take this route as it was facing a winding-up order on March 1.

The club will be docked nine points. It will almost certainly be relegated to the Champtionship, but will enjoy "parachute payments" of £16m per year for the next two years.

The administration is being handled by UHY Hacker Young. Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie says he will, stanbd down once the administrators have sold the club.
