Lambourn Woodlands: Revamped Hare reopens

15 Oct 2009

Stylish restaurant expands by a third in major refit.

The Hare Restaurant in Lambourn Woodlands on the Berkshire/Wiltshire border, a Grade II listed former coaching inn dating back to 1630, has just re-opened
after a major refurbishment programme. It now features a larger restaurant, increased by a third in size, and a new lounge/bar serving light snacks during
the day. The newly re-fitted kitchen has been doubled in size.

Front of House manager Bruno Gautier said: "The expansion of The Hare Restaurant is a major milestone in our business development. We have increased the number of covers by over a third from 55 to 75 while retaining the essential character of the property. Our regular diners will be pleased to learn that we have retained the distinctive appeal of the original three dining areas while we have added a new fourth area where the original bar and lounge was situated. Behind the scenes, our head chef and his team are able to enjoy a much bigger kitchen in which to prepare and cook their excellent cuisine while our customers can relax in a new larger bar and lounge located to the side of the restaurant.
This is open from 11am to 11pm, where we can serve a selection of mouth-watering up-market snacks up to 6.00pm to cater for customers, short on time, but still looking for quality food."

The restaurant upholds its reputation for fine dining, serving a tempting choice of traditional and contemporary cuisine. A relaxed and pleasant ambience pervades the four pleasant, comfortable dining areas, each with their own distinctive appeal. The Garden Room is now available for private parties and can be closed off from the other areas.

Head chef Paul Reed has worked for many prestigious establishments under some of the country's most outstanding chefs. He carefully selects his quality ingredients to create the stunning value dishes. His varied lunchtime menu changes weekly while his evening menu evolves with the seasons.

In the summer months, the restaurant will also offer al fresco dining on its south facing terrace.

The new kitchen, part of the extensive refurbishments, has been re-fitted with brand new equipment and is twice the size of the original one.

The Hare Restaurant is situated mid-way between Newbury and Swindon, three miles along Ermin Street from Junction 14 of the M4. It is the ideal venue to unwind and enjoy a quiet drink or fine dining in convivial surroundings.
