Oxfordshire: The Goose closes its doors

09 Feb 2010

Renowned Michelin restaurant shuts after chef walks out.

The Goose in Britwell Salome, near Watlington, Oxfordshire, has shut its doors - despite regaining its Michelin star this year.

The decision to close is reportedly due to the executive chef Ryan Simpson leaving after a dispute with the owner of the property.

The owner, Paul Castle, later was quoted as saying he would reopen the restaurant with a more traditional British menu.

The Goose regained its reputation for fine cuisine when Ryan Simpson joined in summer 2008.
