Southampton: Premier Telecom expands HQ

05 Mar 2010

Second office acquired at Whiteley as business continues to grow.

A business mobile communications provider to some of the biggest names in the UK is on the expansion trail after acquiring a second office for its headquarters at a regional business park near Southampton.

In a deal handled by commercial property agency Hughes Ellard, Premier Telecom bought the freehold 3,366 sq ft (313 sq m) ground floor of two-storey Gleneagles House, Solent Business Park, Whiteley, for an undisclosed sum. The asking price was £595,000.

The £6m turnover company, which employs 50 people and has more than 30,000 mobile phones under management, already owns and occupies the first-floor office of the semi-detached property at 4400 Parkway.

Premier Telecom’s clients include Williams F1 - one of the world’s leading F1 teams - the NHS, London Transport, DIY chain B&Q, soccer clubs Southampton and Portsmouth and the Rose Bowl stadium near Southampton.

The latest deal means that all 17 buildings at The Links, a range of offices built five years ago by Rok Development and named after famous golf courses, have been sold.

Darren Ridge, the managing director and co-founder of Premier Telecom, said: “We continue to expand organically and the acquisition of the ground floor means we’re well situated for growth from our headquarters under one roof.

“The bottom line is that we reducing our customers’ costs on their unified network communications whilst enhancing their business performance.

“Our position in the UK market has been underlined by the fact that we are the number one premier partner with Vodafone, the major mobile network, an accreditation title reserved for the top 20 in the UK and Northern Ireland.”

Premier Telecom was founded seven years ago by Mr Ridge and sales director Darren Webb.

It supplies a broad range of services and support, including mobiles, mobile data, mobile systems and solutions, tariff management and landline services.

Andy Gibbs of Southampton and Fareham-based Hughes Ellard, acted for Rok Development, The Links’ developer.

He said: “From Rok’s point of view, the Premier Telecom deal signals full house at the scheme, with all 17 buildings now sold, although several offices are available for let. Premier Telecom acted to the letter, and it was a pleasure working with them on behalf of Rok Development.”

Occupiers at The Links include independent phone specialists BDP and M12 Solutions, technical recruitment consultancy Fusion People, creative agency PB Digital, software specialists ITEM Software, personal injury defence practice Kings Legal and Rok Development.
