Basingstoke: New business centre creates a buzz
Work has completed on the opening of a high-spec business centre in Basingstoke. Specialist flexible business space provider, BizSpace, has spent months developing Belvedere House on Basing View.
Already the entire 25,000 sq ft first floor has been let to a single company, due to move in this month, on a five-year lease.
The centre also features a full floor of co-working space operated by Desklodge. The quirky, bright and colourful space includes office space and meeting rooms to allow key markets of small and microbusinesses the opportunity to access flexible and affordable workspace as they grow and develop.
The remaining space offers serviced office and conventional office space of a mix of sizes of units, suitable for a wide range of businesses. The centre is already home to companies including charities and large corporates.
Business centre manager Andrew Mechen commented: “We are delighted to have completed the work. The centre is looking fantastic, and we have been overwhelmed by the response from visitors.
“Belvedere House is set to become the go-to business destination in the area and the centre has already been booked for launch events and networking because of its attractive design and excellent facilities.”
The centre’s atrium was recently used to launch a major business investment for the region by Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), which is investing £10 million to boost the pace of development at the government-backed EZ³ Enterprise Zone.
Explaining why Belvedere House was chosen as the location for the launch event, Kathy Slack, OBE, director of Enterprise M3, commented: “It was essential to launch our Enterprise Zone in one of our Innovation Valley sites and Basing View offered us the opportunity. The atrium in Belvedere House was specifically chosen because it delivered the type of creative space that businesses need. The break out pods, relaxed communal areas and the sense of fun all signal this as the place for innovative businesses to network and succeed. BizSpace and Desklodge were the perfect hosts to kick-start our ambitious venture.”
Previously Belvedere House has been awarded for its impressive design, which incorporates roof gardens and terraces among the offices, as well as an attractive atrium space.
BizSpace’s commercial director, Emma Long, added: “The entire centre has been designed with the needs of start-ups and small businesses in mind, with a vision to help them grow and develop in an environment without limitations.
