Bournemouth: Deacon MD makes it a hat-trick

The managing director of Bournemouth-based Deacon, specialists in buildings insurance for blocks of two or more flats, has been named as one of the top 100 influencers in residential  leasehold for the third year running.

The Hot 100 list is compiled by News on the Block magazine to recognise the most influential people in the residential leasehold property sector.

The list recognises the work of the people like Nigel Feast who promote the mutual interests of leaseholders, freeholders and the managing agents many of them employ.

Feast, who has been managing director at Deacon since 2012, has featured on the list every year since it was first published in 2013. It includes a mix of leasehold campaigners, parliamentarians, trade and professional bodies, managing agents, building owners, investors, developers, valuers and lawyers.

Deacon provides buildings insurance cover for more than 88,000 blocks across the UK, ranging from just two to 200 flats in a block. Under his leadership, it has extended its delegated powers to administer policies and claims on behalf of its customers, and provides a fast and personal direct service to its customers.

The residential leasehold sector is still absorbing the structural changes made possible by the 2002 Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act which put more power, and the responsibility that goes with it, in the hands of leaseholders.  Many more leaseholders now have control of the running of their block through a residential management company, and take a keener interest in insurance.

Feast said: “In our market, where premiums usually run into four figures, customers demand a personal and tailored service, whether there are two or 200 flats in a block. I will continue to give my team the tools and knowledge of the complexities of the leasehold sector  they need to serve our customers better.”
