Buckinghamshire solicitor and rowing champion Diane Yarrow from B P Collins has been appointed as a board member and ambassador for Leap, the sport and activity partnership for Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.

The not-for-profit organisation aims to encourage residents to get more active for life, whether by taking part, coaching, leading or volunteering in physical activity and sport.

A coxing member of Upper Thames Rowing Club, Yarrow’s accomplishments have included winning Henley Women’s Regatta and the British Rowing Championships, and she is also a keen skier, climber and cyclist.

In the run up to the Olympics, she had the opportunity to spend some time on secondment from B P Collins LLP, work in-house with the legal team of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  Since then, Yarrow has advised a number of sporting organisations, including British Rowing.

Roger Fennemore, chairman of the Bucks and MK Sport & Activity Board, which drives Leap, said: “We are delighted to have Diane on board. She brings an exceptional blend of business skills as a partner in B P Collins, together with an international pedigree in sport through rowing. Diane will complement the existing skill set we have on board as we strive to achieve our target of getting 50,000 people more active by 2017.”

Yarrow commented: “As a keen sportswoman, I know the benefits that come from being able to get out and about, and this is a fabulous opportunity to share my passion and help encourage others to become more physically active. The Leap team already does a fantastic job and it’s a great honour to be joining them as a board member and ambassador.”

As a partner in the corporate and commercial team at B P Collins, Yarrow has a particular interest in the environmental, charity and not-for-profit sectors. She is already a supporter of the Bucks Sporting Lunch Club, which raises funds for up-and-coming young athletes in Buckinghamshire.

Leap is one of 49 County Sports Partnerships nationwide, forming a key element of the delivery system for sport across England.
