Fareham: Compass Accountants makes key appointment
Compass Accountants, the chartered accountancy practice based in Fareham, has further enhanced its expertise by making the key appointment of a new senior tax consultant.
Steve Nias joins Compass Accountants, bringing a wealth of experience to its clients on issues concerning tax planning and compliance.
He has worked for several top-30 UK accountancy practices and has vast experience of owner-managed business and private client tax, including PAYE disputes and VAT.
Nias also has previous experience of working with the Inland Revenue (HMRC), having begun his career firstly as a collector of taxes, and then as an inspector of taxes with a portfolio of tax enquiry cases, and has worked on many high-level investigations brought by HMRC.
He said: “Many businesses encounter a wide range of taxes and my broad knowledge will help to identify not only the opportunities for Compass’ clients, but also the risks when dealing with tax matters. As a trained tax investigator I have over 30 years' solid experience of tax enquiry work and this includes top end investigations by HMRC where substantial amounts of tax are being pursued."
Stuart Lawrance, a director with Compass, said: “Steve brings with him a level of expertise, knowledge and experience that will help build our business and strengthen the team, as well as benefit our clients directly. His appointment is perfectly timed as we put plans together to expand the organisation and further enhance the level of service we offer existing and prospective clients.”
