Hampshire: Verisona Law strengthens corporate and commercial team
Verisona Law is delighted to be welcoming associate solicitor, Grant Usher, to its corporate and commercial team in order to meet the demand of the firm’s growing corporate client base.
Usher graduated with first class honours in Law from Oxford Brookes University in 2013 and completed his legal practice course and masters in law at the University of Law in 2014.
Usher got his first taste for corporate law when he began working at national law firm Stevens & Bolton. Usher’s experience at Stevens & Bolton included a client secondment working in-house with an international energy provider, and advising on the nine-figure sale of a European vehicle technology manufacturer.
"I like the analytical side of commercial law," he explained. "I enjoy supporting businesses who are challenged by any one of a number of situations and finding the best and most effective solution that works for them."
The following year, Usher trained at regional law firm asb law, where he furthered his experience by working in several departments, including the firm’s corporate department, where he advised on the sale of a national storage business to a US buyer in one of the firm’s largest ever deals. Soon after becoming a fully qualified solicitor in March 2017, he took his new position at Verisona Law.
"I wanted to be closer to the family I have in Portsmouth, so after meeting chairman, Mike Dyer, and associate director, Stephen Ryde-Weller, I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to join such an ambitious and forward-thinking firm. Verisona Law is modern, ambitious and has an exciting portfolio of clients. I really could not have asked for more."
‘It is fantastic to have Grant on board,’ says Stephen Ryde-Weller, head of corporate and commercial at Verisona Law. "As you would expect from someone that has trained at two heavyweight regional firms he has an excellent grasp of business law but what I am really pleased with is his determination to provide the best possible service to our clients – you don’t often see that in a newly qualified solicitor."
In his spare time, Usher is a season ticketholder at Portsmouth Football Club, and regularly attends the Ageas Bowl to support Hampshire cricket.
