Oxford: Marks & Clerk strengthens position with arrival of Singapore partner
The Oxford office of Marks & Clerk, the global firm of patent and trade mark attorneys, has welcomed Tim Watkin as a partner. Watkin joins the office with over 22 years in the patent profession, having served 13 years in the firm’s Singapore office.
Daniel Talbot-Ponsonby, Oxford office managing partner, said: “We are pleased to welcome Tim to our team of patent attorneys, as we will benefit greatly from his knowledge of the Singapore electronics and IT marketplace. This will prove invaluable as we advise our clients, many of whom are looking to expand their operations to South East Asia.”
Watkin graduated from Cambridge University with a first-class honours degree in physics, obtained a doctorate in neural networks from Oxford University, and then returned to Cambridge University as a research fellow. As a chartered patent attorney, he acts mainly for clients in the electronics, computing, bioinformatics and internet industries.
Commenting on his move, Watkin said: “I am excited to be returning to the UK and in particular to Oxford where I had lived prior to my move. The Oxford and Thames Valley area has a very strong entrepreneurial spirit, much like Singapore, and I look forward to working with the creative and innovative groups that are based here.”
