MyStore Self Storage has opened Witney’s first dedicated self-storage facility at its site at Bookend.

MyStore and sister company House & Carriage provide removals, storage and shipping services from three sites in Oxfordshire including the head office in Charlbury and the new facility in Witney. The business completed its 21,000 sq ft warehouse development to provide 34,000 sq ft of lettable storage space for businesses and families with temporary or long-term storage requirements.

As well as the instant access self-storage service offered by MyStore, House & Carriage offers containerised storage in 250 cubic feet purpose-built storage crates.

The new development will provide 22,000 sq ft of self storage space divided into 360 rooms across four floors as well as 12,000 sq ft dedicated to containerised storage.

MyStore Self Storage director Charles Schmidt explained: “Our new facility is expected to secure the business’ growth over the next five years, establishes a new presence in Witney and provides greater access to the increasingly-popular self-store market.

"Over the past five years the self-storage market has expanded rapidly and now accounts for 40% of the UK market from 25% five years ago.  It is evident that there is a significant and growing demand for self-storage, and businesses and individuals are becoming more inventive as to how they use self-storage facilities.”

Acting on behalf of the vendor, commercial property agents, VSL & Partners agreed a price of £480,000 for the 1.1 acre plot located at Book End road in Witney.

Tom Barton of VSL & Partners said: “With the lack of land availability for commercial development in the area, this was a rare opportunity for MyStore Self Storage to be able to create this new facility and we wish them every future success. The current growth in Witney’s flexible working market and with 737 new companies created in West Oxfordshire in 2015*, this new facility will be an invaluable resource for both local businesses and consumers alike.”
