Portsmouth: Contentious insolvency specialist joins Verisona Law
With almost eight years of specialist experience in insolvency and corporate recovery, solicitor Sarah Phillips has joined the award-winning insolvency & business turnaround team at Portsmouth-based Verisona Law.
After graduating with a degree in law from Queen Mary, University of London in 2006 and completing her LPC course at BPP Law School in 2008 with distinction, Phillips spent four years in the specialist Fraud Insolvency Division (FInD) of Grant Thornton in London, where she dealt with both corporate and personal insolvency matters involving misconduct and the misappropriation of creditors’ funds, and obtained the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency.
In 2012, she was awarded a training contract at Howes Percival in Norwich, during which she gained further specialist experience with the firm’s highly-regarded insolvency and corporate recovery department, as well as completing seats with the corporate & commercial and property litigation teams.
Phillips completed her legal training in February 2014 and was admitted to the roll in March 2014, following which she joined the corporate recovery department of national law firm Gateley plc in London, where she specialised in dealing with corporate insolvency matters on behalf of insolvency practitioner clients.
She joins Verisona Law as a senior associate.
"Sarah’s knowledge and experience has already proved a great asset to the team," said director and head of insolvency and business turnaround, Nick Oliver. "After successfully concluding some major cases over the past few months and receiving more enquiries than ever before, it is great to be attracting talent such as Sarah."
