Reading: ConnectTVT to launch second showcase for digital technology
In June ConnectTVT brings back its series of innovative events, Festival of Digital Disruption (FoDD). Building on last year’s success, the festival week will comprise a series of exciting and collaborative events celebrating excellence in all things digital across Reading.
The new festival will provide a fitting opportunity to highlight Reading’s stellar success in Tech City’s Tech Nation Report earlier this year, which placed the digital turnover of the Reading-Bracknell area at £10 billion, second only to London. The report also placed Reading’s GVA growth at 40% between 2010 and 2014), and highlighted the city as having one of the UK’s highest digital-tech workforces and density of digital-tech businesses.
FoDD will bring together the businesses and innovators driving Reading’s growing digital economy. A new feature will be ConnectTVT’s “50 Game Changers” which will pinpoint the 50 companies and people changing the face of technology in the Thames Valley through digital and disruptive initiatives and campaigns.
A packed programme will feature inspiring tech leaders, digital innovators and ConnectTVT’s “Green Meets Grey” education event. The third instalment of this digital-skills event will again engage the brilliant young minds of the next generation in Reading, pairing them with expert mentors.
Other fun events at the festival will provide an opportunity for those involved in fashion tech, design tech, and for leading digital agencies to compete.
Louize Clarke, co-founder of ConnectTVT and Tech City UK ambassador for the region, commented: “Yes, we can say that Reading’s doing really well when it comes to pioneering new digital activities. But the disruption is happening in small pockets. Through the Festival of Digital Disruption we want to bring all this amazing work together and encourage the digital community out here to collaborate more. That’s where the true potential lies for Reading and beyond.”
