Reading: New chairs announced for Reading UK CIC and Reading BID
Adam Jacobs, owner of Jacobs the Jewellers, has been appointed as the new chair of Reading UK CIC, the economic development and marketing body for the town. He will take over the role from Steve Belam, former general manager of The Oracle Centre.
Jacobs has been a member of the board for three years in his capacity as chair of Reading Business Improvement District (BID). That position will be taken over by Graham Mountford, general manager of Broad Street Mall.
Jacobs oversaw the implementation of new business plans (2014-19) which have unlocked an annual investment of £500,000 in Reading town centre.
He said: “Reading is in the midst of a period of major development and a resurgence in arts and culture which are re-shaping the look and feel of our town centre.”
Nigel Howe, chief executive of Reading Football Club, and Paul House of Trinity Mirror have joined the board of Reading UK CIC which comprises representatives from business, education, the property sector, media and Reading Borough Council.
