Engineering firm Rotamec has opened a new branch in Southampton after securing city centre space at Central Trading Estate in a deal brokered by leading property consultancy JLL.

JLL and CBRE are joint letting agents for the industrial estate, which is based at Marine Parade, Northam. The latest letting means the site is now 100% let, with Rotamec joining existing occupiers such as Speedy Hire and Greenham.

Rotamec has taken 4,491 sq ft of space at Unit 12a of Central Trading Estate, which is managed by LaSalle Investment Management on behalf of Coal Pension Properties. The space has been fitted out and Rotamec has now opened for business.

Rotamec will initially employ four to five people in sales and engineering roles, though further jobs are expected to be created over time.

Eleanor Hussey, senior surveyor at JLL in Southampton, said: “The fact that Central Trading Estate is now fully let is positive news for Southampton, particularly given the site’s location in the heart of the city centre.

“It also shows that demand for industrial space remains high against a backdrop of short supply in the region.”

Rotamec currently has branches in Cheddar and Exeter, covering the whole of the Wouth West peninsular to Gloucester in the north and as far east as Swindon and Poole.

Simon Brooks, managing director of Rotamec, said: “The Southampton branch enables Rotamec to extend its coverage further east as well as do business in the thriving Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke areas. There are plans to open up further branches in the future.”

Richard Maple, associate director at LaSalle Investment Management, said: “The letting to Rotamec means that Central Trading Estate is now fully let. Limited supply of available stock and recent access improvements to the estate have and should continue to drive rental growth.”

Rotamec provides a 24-hour service 365 days a year throughout the South West, minimising critical plant downtime and delivering engineering solutions to a broad customer base across a wide range of industries including food and beverage, agriculture, manufacturing, water and waste, facilities management , print and paper, marine and aggregates.

As a stockist and distributor of some of the biggest names in the industry, Rotamec hold an extensive range of products including motors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, sprockets and transmission components and have manufacturer trained engineers able to respond instantly whether the customer’s need is installation, service, overhaul or emergency repair.
