Leading real estate law firm Irwin Mitchell, with offices in Newbury, Southampton and Chichester, has appointed Carl Dyer as head of its UK national planning team. Dyer was previously head of planning at Thomas Eggar, the law firm that recently merged with Irwin Mitchell to create a truly national real estate practice.

Partner, Martha Grekos remains as head of the planning and infrastructure team in London.

Dyer will be working to build Irwin Mitchell’s planning team further, and heads a team of seven specialist planning lawyers.  Irwin Mitchell's planning team boasts clients which include IDI Gazeley, Redevco, Henry Boot, Welbeck Land, Christ’s Hospital, Mas Rei, and News Corporation UK.

Dyer has 30 years’ experience in town and county planning, having worked both in local government (Havant Borough Council and Brighton City Council) and then in private practice, including 20 years in city firms including Norton Rose, BLP, McGuinness Finch  and Osborne Clarke. He joined Thomas Eggar in 2009. He has particular expertise in securing planning for mixed use development including retail and residential, education and care homes.
