Liphook: Construction company starts work on former military site
The redevelopment of a former military site in Liphook, which will create jobs and boost the local economy, is under construction by Fareham-based Amiri Construction. The former Ordnance Supply Unit (OSU) site, Midhurst Road, will be home to new business premises, including two office buildings and a block of three light industrial units.
The project is being funded through £2 million from East Hampshire District Council and a £1.6m grant from Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership.
Amiri director Martin Tidby joined East Hampshire District council leader and strategy portfolio councillor Richard Millard on the site to view the progress. The Ordnance Business Park, designed by Havant based PDP Architecture LLP is on target to be completed by December this year.
“We are delighted to have this as our first competitively tendered and prestigious project in Liphook,” said Tidby, “The new business park will help to generate jobs and boost the economy in the area.”
Rental income gained by East Hampshire District Council will be re-invested in the local economy through apprenticeships and business support schemes.
Amiri Construction has a turnover in excess of £37m and employs 37 people from its head office at Segensworth. Significant projects ranging from £1.m and £10m across include a range of sectors including commercial, leisure and education across southern England.
