A Whiteley company which takes smart technology to the skies is setting its sights on the multi-billion-dollar aerospace market in the Middle East. Solent Business Park based FliteTrak will be showcasing its innovative ViatorAero system for ‘intelligent’ airline seating and launching new products at the Dubai Airshow on November 12 to 16.

ViatorAero is aviation’s first working technology for the monitoring of individual seats by aircrew for temperature, passenger movement, seatbelt closure and mobile phone activation.

Its predictive maintenance capabilities also flag up faults and deadlines for maintenance, repair and replacement.

Trevor Lea, joint managing director of FliteTrak, said: “The Dubai Airshow is hugely influential in the multi-billion-dollar aerospace market in the Middle East.

“Our innovative ViatorAero is the only working technology of its kind and takes the Internet of Things into the air. It has already gained serious interest since its launch and we hope this will continue in Dubai.

“Attendance at the airshow will allow us to showcase the innovative capabilities of ViatorAero and other new products to potential clients and business partners. We’re looking forward to a successful airshow and placing FliteTrak on the map in the Middle East.”

The last biennial Dubai Airshow featured more than 1,103 exhibitors and resulted in $37.2 billion worth of deals.

FliteTrak new products under development for the show include control boxes with touch-screen technology.

Its cutting-edge ViatorAero is based on advanced iblox technology. It employs small wireless, lightweight sensors with live data sent to a flight attendant’s tablet or mobile device showing individual seats and cabin activity.

Broken equipment such as trays, seatbelts and screens can be recorded and the details transmitted to maintenance crews for rapid correction.

Data can also be logged for later analysis and provide useful information to help improve maintenance turnaround times on major components and enhance the flying experience for passengers.

FliteTrak’s innovation hub is based at Solent Business Park in Whiteley and it also has offices in Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
