Whiteley: Terence O’Rourke shortlisted in planning excellence awards
Planning consultancy Terence O’Rourke has hit the hat trick with three projects shortlisted in the RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence 2015.
Its work on Whiteley Town Centre has the consultancy shortlisted in the ‘Excellence in Planning to Create Economically Successful Places’ category. As the retained planners for the Whiteley Co-ownership (a joint venture between British Land and USS) for almost 20 years, Terence O’Rourke has secured a range of retail consents at Whiteley, which is now a bustling retail centre.
It has also been shortlisted in the ‘Excellence in Decision Making in Planning’ category for its work with MEPC and Patrizia at Hillington Park near Glasgow. It was a monumental project that saw Terence O’Rourke secure the first simplified planning zone in Scotland in more than 20 years.
In addition, another of its projects, which it worked on alongside Barratt Homes, Grosvenor and USS, has been shortlisted in the ‘Excellence in Planning to Deliver Housing’ category.
Managing director Tim Hancock said: “To be recognised by the largest professional institute for planners in Europe is a huge honour, particularly considering we have been shortlisted in not just one but three categories. It’s further proof that we are delivering industry-leading results for our clients.”
The awards run by the Royal Town Planning Institute will be held at the Pullman London St Pancras on July 6, 2015.
