Banbury: HKS buys garage site and grows turnover to £250m

HKS Holdings has acquired the former Jet petrol filling station at the Antelope garage site in Banbury, opposite Morrison’s superstore on Swan Close Road.

HKS, established in 1984 , is a leading competitor in the retail fuel sector and has been expanding its number of sites across the UK, with purchases from Shell and acquiring the Brobot Group.

The group’s portfolio currently stands at over 60 sites, with a number of transactions about to take this further, including the new site in Banbury. HKS expects annualised turnover to reach £250 million, representing growth of 150%.

The Antelope garage site was closed in 2016, where White Commercial Surveyors, acting for the owners, sold the site to an investment company which subsequently (through White Commercial Surveyors again) sold the site to Cherwell District Council. Rapleys and White Commercial Surveyors have been active in the marketing of the petrol filling station, together with the adjoining former Nissan dealership (which comprises showroom, offices and a car workshop) and are close to agreeing a number of new lettings on the site.
