Banbury: Old Malthouse sold to Morrison Property Developments
The Old Malthouse in Banbury, an elegant Grade II listed building comprising circa 10,000 sq ft with a residential development site, has been sold by White Commercial (acting for a private investor ) to Morrison Property Developments.
The property was originally built in 1830 by the Austin Brewery Company as a malting house and was converted to offices then subsequently let to Alcatel Telecom by Chris White in the 1990s. The building has been purchased with the purpose of converting the space into live/work accommodation.
Nigel Morrison, director at Morrison Property Consultants, commented: “This is a fascinating project and our architects Acanthus Clews have been diligent and most innovative in creating our proposed scheme for 25 flats. We are hopeful that, subject to planning permission, Banbury will soon have its own iconic live/work space and that the Grade II listed Old Malthouse will commence its next journey in life in very good order. We have been very impressed with White Commercial and they have continued to be of assistance long after we completed the purchase.”
