Banbury-based software company Lexacom has achieved record growth in 2017 following a series of new contract wins from NHS organisations across the country. The company has recorded its best year of sales since Lexacom was launched in 1999.

Lexacom develops specialist digital dictation and document creation software to improve accuracy, efficiency and quality of document creation for clinicians, lawyers and other professionals. The launch of its new cloud-based Lexacom Connect service, combined with the introduction of Lexacom Echo speech recognition, has seen the company secure record sales in the past 12 months, particularly in the health sector.

GPs and other professionals rely on dictation systems to transfer their expertise to paper as quickly, securely and efficiently as possible. Lexacom Connect was developed to support the growing need for NHS organisations to work together effectively. Lexacom Connect uses secure, encrypted cloud technology to store and process dictations and transcriptions, allowing information to be shared with multiple sites, with appropriate information governance in place. As a result, multiple GP practices across the UK are now working together more effectively, in line with NHS ambitions.

Recent contract wins for Lexacom include purchases from seven clinical commissioning groups and a number of GP clusters and federations. Using Lexacom’s secure cloud-based technology enables these clients to:

• Share information and back-office resources across federations and localities as needed and dictate from multiple locations.
• Dictate and transcribe from branch surgeries and clinics, and record referrals during home visits for instant processing, without any need for paper.
• Reduce or remove reliance on temporary admin staff to manage workload peaks by sharing resources with neighbouring/federated practices.

Lexacom managing director Andrew Whiteley said: “2017 has been a particularly exciting year for Lexacom. With the NHS increasingly looking to technology to help improve patient care, we are delighted to be leading the development of software that enables secure, efficient and accurate document creation, as well as supporting more integrated working across organisations.”

Lexacom is the leading provider of document creation software to the healthcare market, with over 50% of UK GPs now relying on the system to securely dictate, transcribe and send referrals and other healthcare correspondence.
