Basingstoke: InstaVolt appoints CTO
InstaVolt has started the new year with a significant senior appointment as work to develop its nationwide electric vehicle (EV) charging network continues.
The firm, which owns, installs, maintains and operates a nationwide network of rapid DC chargers, has appointed Gary Kirkland as chief technology officer. Kirkland has proven experience in the UK renewables and energy sectors and will be responsible for developing the technology offering for InstaVolt customers, starting with the introduction of an app to complement its market-leading contactless payment option.
Kirkland joins Basingstoke-based InstaVolt from SSE plc where he was responsible for the development of Mayflower Complete Lighting Control Systems, an innovative product to reduce energy consumption for the UK’s street lighting. Prior to that he held a senior role at Anesco, a leading energy efficiency business.

InstaVolt was recently voted the UK’s favourite public charging network, capable of charging multiple brands of vehicle, for the second consecutive year in the annual Zap-map driver survey.
