Berkshire: Insurance brokers JLT Specialty expands Reading office

Specialist insurance brokers and risk consultants JLT Specialty (JLT) is celebrating more than doubling the size of its Reading office since its opening in May 2012.

Peter Cant, head of the company's risk practice in Reading, launched the office just under three years ago with a team of five, to bring its specialist insurance broking capabilities to the Thames Valley area.

Since its launch the team has more than doubled in size and now boasts 12 permanent members of staff based in its Green Park offices. Clients include a wide diversity of local businesses including McKay Securities, Ascot Racecourse, Surrey County Cricket Club and Wingate Electrical.

Cant has over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry, having begun his career at JLT in 1983. He left in 1988 to run an independent broker for 17 years before re-joining JLT in 2005.

He commented: “We are delighted with the growth of the Reading office and look forward to further expansion within the region. Our highly-skilled team enjoys brokering competitive insurance deals for our clients. We have already won a number of new clients locally, leveraging our sector focused expertise to the best advantage of these businesses.”

The Reading office is looking to expand further throughout the next 12 months, with a particular focus on the engineering and manufacturing sectors, as it launches a new insurance package to cover the unique risks they face.
