A process water filter maker has turned round an urgent order for the new NHS Nightingale emergency field hospital, part of the national effort to fight Covid-19.

Amazon Filters assembled and delivered a batch of 24 carbon filter cartridges to help ensure a clean and treated water supply for patients and staff.

The order was received at the firm’s Camberley production centre on the same day an initial 500 beds were officially opened inside the East London ExCel Centre.

The filters will support the fit-out of capacity for a further 3,500 beds as the rest of the hospital – named after iconic nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale – comes into service.

Amazon Filters managing director Neil Pizzey said: “As soon as we received the order, we mobilised our ‘quick and able’ business approach to dispatch the most appropriate filters with a same-day turnaround.

“It involved our SupaCarb product, which uses a carbon block to remove trace chlorine and other impurities from water.

“We were only too happy to expedite this order in support of the amazing work that the NHS is doing on the frontline.

“In these troubled times, we stand ready to process more orders in support of the plans for more emergency field hospitals across the country.”

The NHS Nightingale order is the latest in a series of healthcare-related shipments that Amazon Filters has supplied in recent days, both direct and via other original equipment manufacturers.

There is currently heightened filter demand from customers working in the pharmaceuticals sector who are making drugs and medicines or carrying out laboratory research.

Urgent filtration requirements have also come in from industry sectors converting usual production lines to sanitiser manufacturing.

And, engaging its European distributors, Amazon Filters turned round an order for filters to support critical municipal water treatment processes in Italy.

This involved overcoming the considerable logistical challenges of delivering into a country on enforced nationwide lockdown.

Neil Pizzey added: “Thanks to a series of investment programmes we have completed recently, we are able to manufacture and supply filter products for all industry sectors quickly, accurately and internationally.”
