Crowthorne: Positive psychology for businesses
On Thursday June 4, the pioneer of ‘happiness classes’ in UK schools, Dr Anthony Seldon, master of Wellington College, will address businesses from across the Thames Valley on the importance of positive psychology to their business.
Dr Seldon, who is a leading authority on contemporary British history and one of the country’s most high profile headmasters, has been Master of Wellington College since 2006. He has written many books including the authorised biography of John Major and two biographies of Tony Blair – The Blair Effect. He appears frequently in the media commenting on political and educational matters.
On becoming Master at Wellington College, he introduced ‘happiness’ classes for all pupils, so that they could be equipped with an understanding of what makes lives thrive and flourish, and how they can improve their chances of experiencing happiness, good health, a sense of accomplishment and lasting companionship. This pioneering move attracted considerable media interest from across the world.
On Thursday June 4, Seldon will address businesses from across the Thames Valley on the impact that positive psychology can have on their businesses. He will speak at the breakfast meeting of The Business Forum, a business networking group which meets at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire each month to discuss topical business themes and to network.
Seldon commented: “Businesses operating in Britain are still fundamentally shaped by 20th century thinking. Positive psychology, which emanated from the East Coast of America ten years ago, is the thinking of the future.”
The meeting starts at 7.15am on Thursday 4 June and finishes by 9.15am. The cost of attending is £18 and includes a full English breakfast. Bookings can be made on http://www.thebusinessforum.biz or by emailing [email protected]
