It’s an exciting time for our region – with a growth potential of £10 billion GVA across the South East¹, and many of the Thames Valley areas appearing in the top 10 of our Vibrant Economy Index², Grant Thornton is continuing to make significant investment in growing the Thames Valley and Southampton team, writes Jim Rogers, practice leader

Strengthening our offering in core markets sees recent appointments of Paul Holland, assurance director, and Imran Khan, director of transfer pricing, bringing a fresh perspective.

Our most recent appointment, Holland, has 20 years of experience in audit and sustainability. He spent most of his career at KPMG, working primarily on mid-market financial audits, but since a sustainability focused secondment 10 years ago with the Prince of Wales, Holland has spent much of his time providing organisations with sustainability measurement, reporting and assurance services. His experience and unique knowledge provides us with an opportunity to apply a new lens for our clients, in terms of environmental and social aspects, but also to enhance our wider non-financial assurance offering.

Khan also joins us with a wealth of experience across many types and sizes of business in a wide range of industries. His comprehensive knowledge and passion for deeply understanding clients’ worlds means he delivers tailored solutions with practical and pragmatic guidance, and creates significant value by helping them to navigate an increasingly complex global tax environment.

These new appointments follow a year of significant investment made in the wider leadership across the region. Following Mark Bishop’s promotion to audit partner, we’ve seen subsequent promotions of David Willott and Steven Cenci to directors in tax and audit respectively, as well as the appointment of Gareth Davies who joined the corporate finance team as a director, and Dominic Merlin-Cone’s promotion to partner for employer solutions across the south region as a whole.

The recent investment in our teams across all core markets, shows our commitment to widening our footprint in the area to provide a complete service offering through which we can work together with businesses to shape a vibrant economy. With Holland’s and Khan’s comprehensive skill-set, I’m confident that they will, like our other recent appointments and promotions, have a positive impact in helping us to continue to build on the success we are seeing across all our teams during this challenging and opportunity-filled period of economic change.
