Regus celebrates 20 years in Slough with a new look

Global workspace provider Regus has unveiled a multi-million pound modernisation plan for its popular business centre on Bath Road, Slough. The plan coincides with the 20th birthday of the centre, which was originally Regus’ global headquarters.

The space is being refurbished in order to meet the workspace needs of its customer base, which has dramatically changed since the Bath Road centre first opened its doors two decades ago. Today hundreds of firms use the business centre, whose services include offices of all sizes, a staffed reception and admin support, a drop-in business lounge and meeting rooms. In contrast to 20 years ago, many of today’s customers do not have a permanent office. Instead, they opt for workspace on a shared, part-time or on-demand basis, to keep costs down and mobility up.

Pay for what you use’ workspace has become the fastest growth area of Regus’ business worldwide, and this is certainly a trend reflected in Slough.

The past few years have seen phenomenal growth in the number of freelancers, the self-employed and micro businesses – all of whom have a fundamentally different attitude to the workplace than previous generations.

In addition to the hundreds of local and international businesses that already use the centre, Regus expects the updated space to appeal to local SMEs and start-ups that want to work in a dynamic, collaborative atmosphere. It is also expected to attract local home workers looking for a change of atmosphere. Environment is critical to productivity and employees and managers alike understand that working from home is rarely conducive to work. The refurbishment plans in Slough will offer the perfect solution for those professionals who want to work closer to home, but still value the structure and professional atmosphere of an office-type environment.

The Bath Road centre is just one of the Regus centres in the Thames Valley and has consistently been one of the most popular in the area due to its central location and proximity to transport connections. It is ideally located for flexible workers who want to minimise commute times, while continuing to work away from the home, in a professional working environment. With just a short commute into London, Slough is also an ideal location for businesses wanting to work close to the capital. Customers in the town have the option to choose between Regus’ Bath Road centre, and the company’s second workspace on Stoke Road, located close to the station.

Richard Morris, UK CEO at Regus, commented: “We are thrilled to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of our first opening in Slough. As the former location of our global headquarters, Slough is an important business location for Regus and an increasingly popular base for our customers. The Thames Valley is home to a large number of technological businesses and Slough’s position just outside of the capital makes it an important location for many businesses. The area suits both those who want to work away from central London offices, as well as businesses who want to be near to the city.”

He continued: “The demand for flexible workspace is at an all-time high. The growth of our global footprint in the past 20 years is testament to this rising popularity. More and more businesses are aware of the increased productivity and improved staff wellbeing that flexible working offers.

“Our plans for refurbishment in Slough are an example of our commitment to cater for this growing demand as firms increasingly recognise that flexibility is now the cornerstone of successful business.”

Regus’ centres in Slough are located in the town centre, on Stoke Road, and on Bath Road. Other Thames Valley locations include Windsor, Maidenhead and Reading.
