Hampshire: The Pig Hotel wins Outstanding New Hotel of the Year
The Pig Hotel, in the heart of the New Forest, Hampshire, has been named Outstanding New Hotel of the Year 2013 at an awards ceremony held at the Independent Hotel Show on October 30. The award, presented by renowned London hotelier Jeremy Goring aims to honour hotels in the independent, luxury and boutique sector which have demonstrated success in their first three years of trading.
Commenting on receiving the award, Robin Hutson, owner of The Pig Hotel, said: “We are delighted to be recognised for this award, especially as it is nominated by industry experts and voted for by our fellow peers.
“Since opening we have gone from strength to strength, I’m really proud of the team for all their hard work and dedication. Next year we will open a further two properties so it’s a really exciting time for us.”
Other hoteliers nominated for the award included The Ampersand Hotel; ME Hotel London; 45 Park Lane, the Dorchester Collection; Corinthia Hotel; Edgar House; The Wellesley and South Place Hotel.
Tim Etchells, managing director of Single Market Events, organisers of the Independent Hotel Show, added: “Let me take this opportunity to congratulate The Pig Hotel on a well-deserved victory. This is the first time we have run this award and, from the solid number of entries received, it clearly is a popular and hotly contested one.
"The calibre of the shortlist chosen by the nominations committee reflected the very high standard of new independent, boutique and luxury hotels that have opened across the UK in the past three years and their dynamic presence in this market. Hopefully this award will encourage those looking to enter the sector to take that first step.”
