Henley: Sir Steve hosts Henley appetiser with Sodexo menu
176 years to the day that Henley Royal Regatta was first established, Sir Steve Redgrave, five-time Olympic gold-medal legend, welcomed this summer’s staging of the best-known rowing event in the world – “…wonderful days out overseeing top-class racing while enjoying the unique experience of a traditional English garden party with over 175 years of history.”
Aboard a cruise-liner from the London Embankment, Sir Steve was co-hosting a literally appetising preview of the 2015 wining and dining delights being provided for ‘garden party’ guests by Sodexo Prestige, preferred lead caterer for official hospitality at this year’s Henley Royal Regatta, July 1-5.
As they cruised the Thames, invited business guests were delighted to be able to network and sample the award-winning hospitality of Sodexo Prestige, complete with a superb regatta menu including, of course, champagne and Pimms.
Speaking as the chairman of the management committee of Henley Royal Regatta, Sir Steve explained how Sodexo Prestige had been appointed as hospitality lead caterer last year and produced creative and high-standard hospitality, which included facilities at Fawley Meadows and on Temple Island. “Their passion, enthusiasm and quality shone through.”
Sodexo Prestige, through its principal chef Malcolm Emery allowing the simple brilliance of English produce to shine on the plate, provided hospitality excellence, enjoyment and diverse experiences for its clients and their guests, including private dinners and river trips.
Sir Steve pointed out that this year’s five-days of competition were likely to provide a golden opportunity to see potential GB team rowers in action at the Henley Royal Regatta, prior to the 2016 Olympics in Rio next year.
“I’m looking forward to this year’s regatta, where I am sure Sodexo Prestige will stage another unique experience for all of their guests,” he added.
Sodexo Prestige is no stranger to prestigious world-renowned events, since it already includes Royal Ascot, RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows, The Open Golf Championship, and Burghley Horse Trials among its portfolio of hospitality contracts, not forgetting its involvement with the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
