Prior to founding The Business Magazine in 1993, David was editor of a regional daily newspaper, the Evening Post in Reading. He has worked as a journalist on national newspapers in London, Hong Kong and Sydney, and contributed to publications from the US to Singapore.
David formed Elcot Media & Events Ltd (formerly Elcot Publications Ltd) to build a quality business communications platform in the South East – outside of London – and has created a stable of successful ventures from business magazines, a news website and digital publications to listings, seminars and major awards initiatives including the Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards.

Head of Client Relations
Heading up the company’s client relations, Peter strengthens links with key clients and partners, develops new areas of business and works with sponsors on The Business Magazine’s lists and awards campaigns.
A former business founder and owner, he has run his own consultancy practice for many years and also worked in-house at a top City firm. He has extensive knowledge of the professional services market, and has worked in both IT and finance in the SME sector.
Peter is a consummate team player, and his many years as a professional yachtsman – racing ocean-going yachts globally – bear testimony to this. Both his personal qualities and experience give invaluable strength and substance to Elcot’s operation through its sustained growth.

South Coast Business Manager
Lucinda joined The Business Magazine in 2017 as Solent Business Manager to strengthen relationships with key clients and sponsors, and grow the presence of the Solent & South Coast edition of the magazine and the awards campaigns within the region.
She brings a wealth of experience in winning new business but more importantly, retaining the clients she deals with. She has a nine-year background in developing client relations and does so with a great amount of care and diligence.
Lucinda started out in estate agency and went on to be successful in the managed print services sector. She works well with B2B and B2C enterprises and has the natural intuition to engage with all areas of a business, including board directors, management and other roles.
Thames Valley Account Manager
Nathan Joined the Business Magazine in 2018 as Thames Valley Account Manager to maintain and strengthen key clients, whilst growing the Thames Valley region. Nathans focus is to drive new and maintain existing business for the magazine as well as promote the companys Awards campaigns.
Nathan originally started out in IT sales spending 15 years working for a software distributor and brand-leading IT vendors. His experience in new business and managing large tier-1 accounts, within the UK and Ireland, lead him onto a new role in 2015 within the travel media industry working for Wanderlust, the UK’s leading travel publication. It was here that Nathan helped with the commercial growth of the business through print and digital campaigns.
Nathan has excellent relationship building skills by listening and interpreting the clients needs and delivering upon those. Nathan has experience of working with both B2B and B2C organisations including all levels of senior management.
Events and Brand Manager
Amanda joined Elcot in September 2007 as an administrator with a background in marketing. She then moved into production and now, as part of the operations team, jointly manages the major awards events held each year as well as being responsible for the design of branding on the campaigns, awards and promotional materials for the company and our social media accounts.

Helen joined The Business Magazine in July 2014, bringing a BA Degree in Industrial Psychology and a background in sales and marketing.
She jointly manages the major awards events held each year as well as events including the roundtables and breakfast seminars.

Client Liaison Manager
Linda joined The Business Magazine in November 2010 from a background of marketing and communications in IT, professional services, pharmaceuticals, football and publishing.
She brings significant experience to our events team – specifically focusing on Thames Valley 250, Solent 250 and Southern Tech 100 campaigns. These include roundtable discussions, breakfast seminars, awards dinners and general events.
Prior to joining the team, she was a freelance marketer for professional services firms including Clifton Ingram and HP.

Head of Operations
Steve, who joined The Business Magazine in November 2006, manages the production department, overseeing the print editions, planning paginations, and liaising with clients on advertising and editorial submissions and deadlines.
Having started his career in City banking, he subsequently moved into training and development where he designed and wrote procedures manuals and training guides, and created and presented training courses.
He went on to set up and run the training and development function for HFC Bank, before moving on to create and run his own local interest magazine in Windsor.

Dan joined The Business Magazine in October 2012 as Business Development Executive, tasked with building relationships with new clients, and initiating and managing their print and digital campaigns.
He now plays a key role in graphic design and web development, building websites, designing pages for the magazine, creating eNewsletters and managing the in-house IT.

Women in Business Manager
Tamsin joined The Business Magazine in 2015 as projects manager. In her role as Women in Business manager, she heads up the key initiative of Women in Business, and brings to the company extensive experience as a communication and sales professional.
A former area director for Dale Carnegie, the renowned management development organisation, Tamsin has coached senior business executives, facilitated seminars and workshops, and managed high-level accounts for global companies in IT, fashion and media.

Data & Listings Manager
Jo joined The Business Magazine in May 2017 after working for several years as a teaching assistant while her children were young. She has a diploma in illustration and an early background in sales and marketing.
She now manages the company database, CRM system and GDPR compliance – a key role for our information business – and the compilation and checking of listings – both one-offs and our five regular annual listings.
Jo also liaises with sponsors and companies to set up profile interviews for editorial features.

Events & Client Coordinator
Pauline joined The Business Magazine in 2018 as Events & Client Coordinator, providing support for our events and listings campaigns. Pauline will also work closely with clients and sponsors to attract guests to our roundtable and business breakfast events.
Pauline, who lives in Maidenhead, has previous experience in publishing and events and has joined Elcot at a time when the company is staging as many as 40 events a year, and continuing to grow.
John is an award-winning writer and editor of internal and external communications including in-house company newsletters and magazines, customer-focused newspapers, marketing and PR publications, and staff and corporate videos.
Following full media-training and 12 years as a journalist, John moved into PR/marketing, corporate communications, public affairs consultancy and event management.
John has worked for and with many blue-chip companies and national professional bodies including: Courage, Foster-Wheeler, Shell, Balfour Beatty, Sony; AIRMIC, NAEA an BII.
Alison trained as a journalist and worked on a variety of regional weekly and evening newspapers before expanding into public relations. During the 1980s and 90s, she worked in-house on various publications and campaigns at the Home Office and British Airways, and also spent time in overseas markets in the Middle East and Africa.
For several years she then managed a PR consultancy in the Thames Valley, predominantly for B2B clients, and joined The Business Magazine team in autumn 2005.
She enjoys writing everything from case studies to opinion pieces and profiles on a range of business issues, and also runs her own PR consultancy, Straight PR.
Tim Wickham has more than 25 years’ experience as a business writer, working with companies, publishers and creative agencies. He runs an editorial and design consultancy providing creative advice on business communications. Projects include magazines, newsletters, case studies, blogs, annual reports and brochures.
He writes on a range of business and investment areas, transforming corporate speak into plain English, for customer and employee communications. He has worked with Audi, BP, CSC, HP, Octopus Investments, VWG and Zurich, among others. Tim enjoys finding out what makes companies tick and producing compelling stories about people and products.
