Oxford: Westgate serves up five new restaurants
Five new restauranteurs have signed up to Land Securities and The Crown Estate’s Westgate Oxford shopping and leisure scheme, which is due to launch next year following a £500 million overhaul, CoStar News has revealed.
Cinnamon Kitchen, The Breakfast Club, The Alchemist, Pizza Pilgrims and Polpo will be part of the leisure line up at The Roof Garden, a new dining area being developed on top of the shopping centre with panoramic views of Oxford and the surrounding countryside.
They will join restaurants Sticks n Sushi, Comptoir Libanais, Le Pain Quotidien and Shoryu Ramen.
The restaurants, secured through leisure property agents Davis Coffer Lyons, are all between 3,000 sq ft and 5,000 sq ft.
Land Securities and The Crown Estate began work on Westgate Oxford last year after more than five years of planning and preparation. The 800,000 sq ft retail-led mixed use development will be anchored by a 142,000 sq ft flagship John Lewis and house over 100 other retailers and 25 restaurants and cafes, sitting alongside a five-screen Curzon Cinema.
The Westgate Centre is now 65% let or in solicitors hands ahead of its launch in October 2017. Retailers opening at the scheme include Hugo Boss, Ted Baker, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Cos, & Other Stories, Michael Kors and H&M.
Academic book retailer Blackwell’s will also open at Westgate alongside New Look, River Island, Next, Primark and Superdry.
Naomi Howard, leasing director at Land Securities, said: “Our roof top terrace is one of the most special elements to our new scheme, offering customers unseen before views across the dreaming spires and the countryside of Oxford, and we are so excited to have such a fantastic line up of restaurants sharing our vision for the roof terrace.”
