Leading independent healthscience consultancy Oxford PharmaGenesis has been presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise. The Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Tim Stevenson OBE, presented the award for Outstanding Achievement in International Trade.

The company has almost doubled its exports over the past four years, from £10 million in 2015 to £19m. Approximately 78% of its income is earned abroad.

“To receive this award for the second time running is a remarkable record,” said the Lord Lieutenant as he conferred a Grant of Appointment on Oxford PharmaGenesis. “It recognises the company’s astonishing export achievement as well as its values, commitment to excellence and its contribution to people’s health.”

Established in 1998, Oxford PharmaGenesis has grown to become a leader in international healthcare communication, working in partnership with its clients to bring new treatments to patients around the world in areas of unmet medical need. Approximately 60% of its business is from mainland Europe and 16% is from the USA.

“The Oxford-Cambridge Arc is renowned for its world-leading research and development, science and technology sectors,” said Les Sibley, chairman of Oxfordshire County Council. “This award recognises the success of businesses like Oxford PharmaGenesis that have attracted highly talented staff and invested in innovation.”

The company has doubled its number of full-time employees over the past four years at its offices in Oxford, London, Cardiff, Basel, Melbourne and Philadelphia.

“This honour reflects the reputation and relationships that we have developed with our clients, which include many of the top pharmaceutical companies in the world as well as leading patient societies,” said CEO Dr Chris Winchester. “It also recognises the outstanding team we employ, who help to turn scientific breakthroughs into patient benefits. Together, these give us the global reach and expertise to make a difference in the world.”

Nearly 200 employees joined civic leaders, representatives of patient groups, universities and clients from around the world at a special celebratory event in Oxfordshire. The presentation took place at Oxford PharmaGenesis’ largest office in Tubney on the outskirts of Oxford. The celebration, which continued at nearby Kingston Bagpuize House, included live music, cream tea and poetic entertainment.
