Oxfordshire: Pub/restaurant The Maybush brought to market
The currently closed pub/restaurant, The Maybush, situated on the banks of the River Thames in the Oxfordshire village of Newbridge, has been bought to the market through specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.
Situated just 10 miles from Oxford, the refurbished property boasts river and meadow views from its elevated riverside position. Previously attracting a significant amount of trade from business and leisure guests, the pub comprises a 44-cover restaurant, 12-cover snug, 10-cover function room, which was most recently utilised as a letting bedroom, a fully-equipped commercial kitchen and four bedroom owner’s accommodation.
Externally, a large decked area for 100 covers, with its own bar, surrounds the property and provides views across the landscape. Additionally, there are three outbuildings which provide office space, wet and dry storage, cold room, and beer cellar, plus a jetty mooring and parking for up to 40 vehicles.
Planning permission has been granted for the reconfiguration of the ground floor of the property to create four letting bedrooms which, combined with the owner’s accommodation, could provide a total of eight letting bedrooms and add a strong new revenue stream, if a new owner wished to create a more accommodation-led business.
Tim Widdows, business agent at Christie & Co’s Reading office, is handling the sale and commented: “Due to The Maybush’s fantastic location in such an affluent and scenic area and with the potential for letting rooms, this opportunity provides a new operator with plenty of scope to extensively develop the business to attract both the corporate and leisure markets.
“Due to the recent high-quality refurbishment, the property is now ready to reopen and begin trading immediately to capture the forthcoming summer trade.”
Christie & Co is inviting offers for the freehold interest of The Maybush.
