A legal team specialising in the representation of individuals who have suffered from the trauma of historic abuse, has been praised by national legal network, LawNet, and awarded Team of the Year at the organisation’s annual conference.
The historic abuse team of leading Portsmouth legal firm Verisona Law was the proud recipient of Team of the Year at LawNet’s award ceremony for 2018 at the Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire.
Chosen from shortlisted entries from both legal and business support teams across the country, associate director Charles Derham and his team were recognised for the delivery of exceptional performance over the course of the past year.
In their comments for the award, sponsored by legal software company InfoTrack, the judges said: “Our firms are full of busy, successful teams working hard to develop their businesses and deliver great results for their clients. But the winners of this category reminded us how important the legal profession is to society and the profound impact you can have on the lives of your clients, securing justice in the most difficult of circumstances.
“Whilst a difficult subject, we felt that the team demonstrated a commitment to going an extra mile in supporting their clients. A delicate balancing act has been achieved to support clients whilst generating organic growth for the firm. They employed a strategy that leads on technology, showing a real insight into an audience likely to begin their search for help online. All of this has been achieved working as a team; and it is a team worthy of recognition.”
Derham said: “This has been wonderful end to a busy and productive year. People who carry out the work we do are rarely in the spotlight and certainly not singled out for praise when compared to other areas of the legal profession. We are very appreciative of the kind words and support from LawNet and look forward to building on our success in the New Year.”
