Global information and events company Ascential has acquired Reading-based Brand View, a provider of price and promotion analytics for manufacturers and retailers, for up to £38 million.
Brand View offers data and analysis to retailers and manufacturers to allow them to measure and manage pricing and promotion activity and drive sales, across off-line and online market places. The business serves more than 200 customers from offices in Reading, Stamford Connecticut and Paris.
Under the terms of the deal, the company paid an initial consideration of £29.8m in cash, with a further deferred consideration of up to £8.2m, which would depend on the achievement of certain milestones for subscription billings through the remainder of this year and the first half of 2019.
“The acquisition of Brand View, using capital released from the sale of the exhibitions business, supports this goal by broadening our capabilities in e-commerce analytics,” said CEO Duncan Painter. “Brand View’s price and promotion expertise, and coverage of store-based activity, provides a comprehensive offering for both retailers and manufacturers.”
