Reading: New partner joins EY from PwC
EY has appointed Mike Philp as associate partner in assurance to join its private and mid-market team, based in Reading. This follows the earlier appointment of Paul Etherington who joined EY as an assurance partner in April 2018 and demonstrates the firm’s commitment to bolstering its offering to mid-market clients.
Philp joins from PwC’s South East business and has spent much of his career working in the mid-market, advising clients on the journey from private equity ownership to listed businesses. He also has broad expertise in a number of the region’s key sectors; including housebuilding, construction, automotive and retail.
At EY, both Philp and Etherington will be focused on building the firm’s market profile and client base in the private and mid-market in the Thames Valley and South region. In particular, they will be working with start-ups and fast-growth businesses seeking to exit through IPO.
Philp commented: “The Thames Valley is a thriving regional economy and is forecast to grow faster than any other UK region, according to EY’s Thames Valley Report. I’m impressed by EY’s breath of experience and commitment to investing in this region and I look forward to supporting local businesses with their growth and investment plans to ensure the region’s future economic success.”
Richard Baker, managing partner at EY in the Thames Valley and South, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Mike into this role as we continue to focus our investment in the regional mid-market. Both Mike and Paul will play a pivotal role in the ongoing growth of our Reading office as we continue to recruit and grow our business in line with the region’s economic success.”
