Reading and Ringwood: UK-based Jaluch supports Saudi women in business
Following a successful pilot scheme this autumn, author and award-winning UK businesswoman Helen Jamieson – who will be running a series of entrepreneurship workshops in Reading and Ringwood (Hampshire) in the New Year – will soon be returning to Saudi Arabia to deliver a pioneering series of workshops especially for women.
"An estimated 30% of Saudi women looking for jobs can’t find work, and 78 % of women who are unemployed have a university education - that’s a lot of untapped potential," said Jamieson who over recent months has seen a big increase in the number of women looking to set up in business. Her workshops are designed to help Saudi women do just that.
She said: “I have had business interests in Saudi for some years now, and was recently invited to deliver an entrepreneurship workshop at Tashkeil in Jeddah. It was a wonderful opportunity to give women the best possible chance at succeeding in business through sharing practical knowledge and experiences.”
The feedback from the workshop has been excellent. Carol Hannoun Keyrouz, a Saudi image consultant, fashion editor and designer, said: “Taking the Female Entrepreneurship Workshop with Helen Jamieson was the best thing I ever did. It was a real eye-opener and helped me put into perspective all the essential steps I needed to plan and consider in order to set up my business correctly.”
Jamieson is an award-winning businesswoman, EU Female Entrepreneurship Ambassador and author of My Business, My Success: A Woman’s Guide to Entrepreneurship. She has an MA in Arabic Studies and during her early career lived in both Germany and Qatar.
She has owned and run her own businesses for over 17 years, and set up her current business Jaluch, (a human resources and training consultancy) in 2002 after selling her first business in 2001. She loves innovation and adventure and particularly dislikes the professional obsession and blind adherence to ‘best practice’ that can run rampant in the HR industry. Helen prides herself on running businesses that deliver what they say they will deliver on time and within budget.
