Reading: Romans holds its most successful auction of the year
Romans’ final auction of 2016 saw hundreds of buyers pack the conference centre at Green Park in Reading to witness a varied catalogue of sought-after properties and investments being sold. 87% of the lots were sold and some exceptional prices were achieved. The total capital amount sold for clients was the highest figure in the year.
Simon Clayton, Romans auctions director, commented: “The sales definitely demonstrated that the right lots at the right guide prices are still very attractive to the investment market. Sellers held their nerve and a very high percentage of the lots sold in the room, all for their guide prices or more. Many were for significantly more than their guide price.”
One of the star lots was a parcel of several pieces of land, without planning permission, in Southall, Greater London, which sold for £817,000. Bigwood House in Wokingham, a vacant detached period six-bedroom house requiring complete renovation, standing in just under an acre of gardens, finally fell after a fierce four-way bidding war, for £855,000, £355,000 more than the guide price.
