Global toy company Mattel – famous for its Barbie Doll – has reached agreement with landlords Landid to take the final floor in Slough's The Porter Building.

The 111,000 sq ft speculative office development in Slough is now fully let.

Mattel is moving from its office in Maidenhead to take the third floor of the building, comprising 27,400 sq ft.

Mattel will start work on its fit-out soon and is expected to make the move to the Porter Building in early spring 2020.

Other occupiers in the UK’s first WELL Certified office building are telecommunications provider Orange, Chinese AI firm YITU, and the global fintech business Fiserv.

Other tenants include co-working provider Spaces, which is also running its café concept Soul Deli on the ground floor.

The Porter Building, designed by architect tp Bennett, achieved certification through the WELL Building Standard in January 2018.

James Silver, Landid managing director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mattel to The Porter Building, where the business will join the established community of occupiers that have now made their home in Slough. It’s incredibly important to us that we develop buildings which provide modern forward-thinking businesses with everything that can enable them to thrive. That means creating workplaces that are well connected, sustainable, amenity-rich and have employee wellbeing at their heart. The fact that The Porter Building is now fully-let with a diverse collection of dynamic occupiers is testament to the success of that vision.”

The Porter Building was developed by a partnership between Landid and Brockton Capital and completed in November 2017. In August 2018, it was sold to Spelthorne Council as part of a portfolio of three Western Corridor office assets, with Landid becoming the building’s asset manager. Other buildings in the portfolio include Thames Tower, in Reading, and The Charter Building in Uxbridge.

CBRE and Knight Frank are the letting agents for the Porter Building. Knight Frank acted for Mattel.
