Solent: CBE honour for Southampton CEO
Jan Ward, CEO of Southampton-based Corrotherm International, has been made a commander of the British Empire by HRH Prince Charles in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Ward was invested as a CBE for her services to business and her prominent role within the business community at both a national and international level. She founded Corrotherm 1992 to supply high-grade metals to the oil, gas and desalination markets, and since then the company has gone from strength to strength, expanding significantly to establish a strong global presence.
She said: “It was thrilling to meet Prince Charles and I was surprised at how much he knew about me and Corrotherm International. It was a surprisingly comfortable and relaxed environment and the yeomen at Buckingham Palace ensured that everything transitioned easily and smoothly throughout the ceremony.
Ward is passionate about the manufacturing industry, and has been active over the years in the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce. She is also a past president of the Southampton and Fareham Chamber of Commerce.
As a successful woman in the traditionally male-dominated world of engineering, Ward is no stranger to having her accomplishments recognised. In 2009, she was named the UK’s most inspirational female entrepreneur, winning the coveted NatWest Everywoman Award which champions female entrepreneurs, and in 2013 was named international director of the year in the Institute of Directors London and South East Director of the Year Awards.
