Law firm Shoosmiths has boosted its national real estate offering with the strategic hire of partner Sara Hampson, a specialist adviser to developers, investors and landowners working across the living sector.
Hampson, whose remit will cover the southern region based out of the firm’s Solent office, has significant experience advising housebuilders on the acquisition and sale of development land, strategic site assembly, joint ventures, options, land promotion agreements, development agreements, and the provision of affordable housing.
Catherine Williams, head of Shoosmiths’ living sector, said: “We’ve invested heavily in the living sector for over four decades, and we now have one of the largest national teams offering a cradle-to-grave service.
“Sara’s experience will add further depth and coverage to our housebuilder clients across the southern region. With it being too early to tell what economic impact the COVID-19 pandemic will have on the housing market in the southern region, when things do begin to return to typical levels of market activity it will be more important than ever to have living sector specialists with the capability to manage what will likely be significant pent-up demand.
“Sara’s years of experience will therefore allow us to support our clients through any restrictions which remain in place as development sites reopen, and offer ongoing strategic advice as we move to what will be a new normal.”
National head of real estate Kirsten Hewson said: “Shoosmiths’ coverage of the UK’s cities and regions means we have an ability to provide national expertise that is locally-led. Sara’s appointment will enhance our national offering, but importantly offer our southern region clients a sector-specialist on their doorstep and demonstrates our commitment to the region. We are excited to have her join our team.”
Shoosmiths is shortlisted for Professional Team of the Year at the Property Awards 2020 and shortlisted for Legal Team of the Year at the RESI Awards 2020.
Hampson joins Shoosmiths from Laytons LLP, where she was an office managing partner leading a niche residential development practice operating across the Home Counties, South and East.
