Leading South Coast property developer Highwood has been featured on the 22nd annual Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100, which celebrates the country’s top 100 performing private companies, ranked by the fastest-growing sales over their latest three years. This follows a sensational awards season and a growth in turnover of almost 55% over the past three years despite Brexit’s challenging economic backdrop.

Highwood Group has been recognised for its remarkable growth with an enviable ranking Fast Track 100 league table, which ranks Britain’s top 100 private companies with the fastest-growing sales over their latest three years.

Featuring alongside some of the UK’s most respected and dynamic brands, Highwood’s ranking of 74 was a noteworthy achievement for the regional development business that has seen the Group’s strategic land, development and construction businesses flourish – despite Brexit’s progressively challenging economic backdrop. Indeed, the resilience of Highwood businesses and their rise to the top has been nothing short of meteoric, giving rise to a turnover of over £100 million in the year ending February 2018.

The private Romsey-based development company was formed by its three founding owners, Nigel Meek, Nigel Shannon and Malcolm Mintram 15 years ago who have since taken the business from strength to strength and made it the influential property business it is today. Their investment into strategic land has been integral to its current standing and served as the launch pad for the organisation’s delivery platform: the Highwood Group. This tactical move has seen its land investment arm promoting in excess of 5,000 housing plots in Hampshire in the last four years alone – all that in addition to the provision of new schools, road infrastructure, community centres and affordable housing.

Recognised by the industry’s most prestigious awards bodies

The Group’s achievements have certainly been cause for much celebration; in addition to its inclusion on the Fast Track 100 list, the industry’s most prestigious awards bodies have been quick to endorse Highwood’s successes.

The company recently scooped two high profile award wins in the South Coast Property Awards - for Fast Rising Property Business of the Year and Development of the Year (Residential – Large) for its landmark North Stoneham Park project in Eastleigh, near Southampton.

Just one month earlier, two of Highwood’s premier care projects were included in the most recommended UK Care Homes awards list by carehome.co.uk with its Netley Court scheme with partner, Cinnamon, and Adderbury scheme with partner, Gracewell, both featuring in the Top 20 Care Homes South East England 2018. The judges scored the project exemplary marks that equalled Highwood Group’s hugely successful Pine Martin Grange care home in Wareham, Dorset, which won the award for Best New Elderly Care Home at the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards 2018.

The same month, Highwood was named in the London Stock Exchange Group’s 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain 2018 report; an annual report that identifies the UK’s fastest growing SMEs and high growth businesses, which was certainly a jewel in the crown for the developer.

That accolade came on the back of Highwood’s ranking of 15 in The Business Magazine’s Solent SME 100 list – an acclaimed annual list that reflects the standings of the top 100 private companies in the region based on sales growth. Both results have gone a long way to asserting Highwood’s presence in this fast-paced and very competitive sector.

"The last 12 months have certainly been our most successful to date," revealed Guy Hayward, Highwood Group’s managing director. "To be featured in the Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 list is nothing short of an incredible achievement and, naturally, the entire team at Highwood deserves high praise for its hard work and dedication. Together, we’re building beautiful homes in fabulous settings, creating jobs for the region and making valuable contributions to our economy."
