South Coast Property Awards 2017: Prestige ‘City of the Year’ title goes to Portsmouth
Portsmouth claimed a double crown as ‘City of the Year’ and ‘Corporate Real Estate Team of the Year’ for its city council staff as the region’s property professionals demonstrated their prowess to the full within the 15 awards presented at this year’s South Coast Property Awards.
From business parks to builders; shopping complexes to science campuses, regeneration projects to residential homes; property law to client service; workplace environments to architectural excellence – each had come under the astute assessment of the SCPA Judging Panel.
But, when it came to overall town or city developments, Portsmouth – ‘the Great Waterfront City’ adopting a culture-led regeneration approach, revitalising insights into its past, but also unfolding the emerging story of Portsmouth’s future as a vibrant coastal economy’ – pipped its south coast rivals.
Not that one of those rivals – Southampton – didn’t claim its own share of award-winning property development recognition at the evening.
Southampton City Council chief executive Dawn Baxendale, for example, was awarded the SCPA ‘Outstanding Contribution’ honour for her successful work in leading progress of the city’s ongoing redevelopment master-plan.
Generous donations from guests attending saw over £3,000 collected for the event's chosen charity, The Rainbow Centre.
