Southampton: Firm launches GDPR compliance manual
A Hampshire firm has set out to help business owners get to grips with the GDPR regulations that came into force on May 25, 2018 by providing a comprehensive GDPR compliance manual which has been reviewed by the GDPR compliance team of regional law firm Paris Smith LLP.
Phoenix Project Solutions, based in Southampton, has launched a GDPR compliance manual highlighting it as a hugely positive exercise for any business to go through reviewing its data held and how it is used and stored and the system security around that.
Lara Bull, founder of Phoenix Project Solutions, commented: “With demanding workloads, many business owners’ focus is on the day-to-day running of their company and its’ growth -the complexities of the new GDPR regulations can appear just too confusing and daunting to tackle. When I set up Phoenix it was with the aim of helping both large and small organisations to facilitate change, optimise performance and productivity to help achieve their vision. As I have been speaking to local companies, I realised there are business owners who were struggling with the process of GDPR compliance for themselves and understanding just how far reaching the regulation is so it seemed a natural fit for me to try to help by creating a manual.
“With a detailed reference section, project plan, overviews and points to consider as well as template internal review forms, policies, procedures, standard letters and a third-party supplier agreement that can all be tailored, the manual aims to not only walk a company through becoming compliant but ensure that any problem areas around personal data protection are highlighted and can be remedied.
"There are only positives, by working through the exercise of becoming fully GDPR compliant. It gives you the opportunity to make positive changes if they are needed, which will benefit the business, the staff and potentially the bottom line.”
Bull continued: “It may be that a Company is operating in a compliant manner already but that nothing is formalised?
“However, every company must be able to clearly demonstrate through formal policies and procedures what information they hold, why they hold it and for how long, who has access to it, how it is secured and where it is kept and it is essential that this information is clearly messaged to clients, suppliers and staff as well as making them aware of their own rights."
She concluded: “Becoming GDPR compliant is an opportunity for many businesses to save time and money as well as protecting their customers, suppliers, staff and in turn their business and Phoenix felt that many businesses might just need a helping hand through the process.”
