Peer 1 Hosting, the global web infrastructure and cloud hosting company, has been named 11th in the top 25 best places to work in the UK.
The hosting company, with European headquarters in Southampton, has been recognised by the Great Place to Work institute – part of the world’s largest consultancy helping organisations build high trust with employees and truly engaging workplaces.
The institute defines a great place to work as one that fosters trust with employees, which drives engagement and ultimately business performance. Peer 1 has been shortlisted due to its unwavering devotion to unlocking the potential of its staff – ensuring staff are engaged, committed and inspired to do and be their best. Peer 1 encourages its employees to reach their full potential and to bring their whole authentic-selves to work.
From the helter-skelter slide in its UK office, through to the naming of its staff as ‘Peers’, Peer 1 aims to go above and beyond to make staff feel connected, inspired, and engaged, giving them the tools they need to be the best they can be. From the board level down throughout the company, there is a culture of trust within the business, which is reflected by a high percentage of staff retention.
Helen Ives, director of people, has overseen much of the culture and engagement at the company. She said: “For us to be included as one of the top 25 companies in the country is a huge honour for the business, but really it reflects the company’s outstanding culture and the people we have working for us.
“It’s not often that you get to work at a company where you can take a yoga class in the office at lunch, or have a drink in the upstairs pub. But it’s also not just the ‘fun’ aspects that make Peer 1 a great place to work – it’s also the dedication and unparalleled commitment to service that resonates across all of our staff, which is why people come here for the long term.”
Tom O’Byrne, chief executive at Great Place to Work, added: “‘We are delighted to recognise these organisations which have achieved the coveted status of Best Workplace, one that has high trust and highly engaged employees.
“Organisations are increasingly recognising the value of company values when it comes to creating a successful workplace culture and driving their businesses forward. Peer 1 ‘peers’ echo this in its values which are fundamental to who they are, what they do and what they achieve.”
